Keynote Address:  Lessons Learned from the Vancouver 2010 Olympics

Speaker: Bud Mercer, Assistant Commissioner in Charge of the Vancouver 2010 Integrated Security Unit (ISU).

Session Description: The ISU was responsible for securing the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games and was made up of members from the RCMP, Vancouver Police Department, West Vancouver Police Department and the Canadian Forces.  The unit is led by the RCMP.

Join us for the opening keynote session as Bud Mercer shares insights into keeping Vancouver, Canada, and everyone participating in the 2010 Olympics and Paralympics safe.

Speaker Bio: Assistant Commander Bud Mercer joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1976.  His career spans 31 years and throughout these years he has served Canada from the Atlantic to the Pacific, the far north and points in between.  He has extensive policing experience at the City (municipal), Provincial, Federal and International levels.  In the last seven years he has served at Command and Executive levels within these business lines.  In these various capacities, he has represented the RCMP while working and pursuing educational opportunities in the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia.
